Black Friday is here and the shopping season floodgates have been officially opened! In the spirit of fun and gift-giving, we’ve compiled this Holiday Gift Guide: gift suggestions compiled from the Torchlight dev team, sure to delight your inner and outer gamer or geek. Happy Holidays!

Jason Beck (Art Director)

  • XBOX Kinect w/ Kinectimals – This is the first ‘gamer’ thing my nearly 5 year old daughter has openly asked for without me mentioning it beforehand. She excitedly told me about it one night when I got home as “the game where you can make your pet tiger pretend it’s dead by playing dead on the floor”.
  • Rock Band 3
  • Fallout: New Vegas

Jolene Ziegler (QA)

Comics

  • Promethia hard cover
  • Batwoman hard cover

Misc.

  • Fireman’s 4 brand beer
  • A tablet PC that plays Flash and doesn’t suck

DVD

  • Daria the complete series

Games

  • Star Wars the Old republic for PC
  • Okami Den for DS
  • Golden Sun for DS
  • DC Universe for PC

Movies Coming Out

  • Harry Potter
  • Black Swan
  • Tron Legacy
  • Green hornet

Matt Wyatt (Accountant)

Jason Lamb (QA Lead)

  • The Alien Quadrilogy Blu-ray box set.
  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 2 (DVD and BRD)
  • Flying your friends and relatives out to see you :-)

JD Wiker (Writer)

Ben Evans (Webmaster)

  • Catan Histories: Settlers of America – This is a great new game by Klaus Teuber and Mayfair Games. Enjoyable for veterans of Settlers of Catan and new players alike, explore and and move westward as you settle America.
  • Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series – I have always found the Discworld series to be enjoyable and immersive, yet light enough to be able to put down and come back to at any time. The books in the series are not always connected and you can read them in (almost) any order. As a starting point, I suggest either The Color of Magic or The Thief of Time.
  • The 2011 Time Travelers Calendar – This calendar takes a listing of time travel occurrences throughout movies, video games and books and lays them out on a convenient time line for your datekeeping pleasure.
  • Dungeons and Dragons Red Box – If you have never played Dungeons and Dragons, this is a great way to get introduced to the world. The Red Box contains everything necessary to get started and play.

Jesse Tucker (Level Design)

  • Dominion: Prosperity
  • Dungeon Defenders
  • Solid State HD
  • Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood

Matt Munroe (QA)

Mike Fisher (2D Artist)

  • PS3, and 46" HD flatscreen for consoles in the gaming room :) (Note: Good luck with that one, Mike! ;)

T-Shirt Contest!

One year ago on the fateful day of October 27, 2009, a day that will live as a legend in our mind, a barely heard-of studio launched its first title: Torchlight.

Word of Ember blazed to life! Dungeon-crawler fans rejoiced, and our moms were proud. Because of you, Torchlight found a home and became a success. Because you love playing Torchlight and encouraged your friends to check it out, we are able to be here a year later, making Torchlight II. Our simple principle of making the type of game we want to play and doing so as efficiently as possible resonated with you. We’ve loved seeing your screenshots and hearing about your fire-ball casting pet cats. We were just as excited as you, when you unlocked the Horse level and found the Sword of Adam. We have a great team that cares about the work we do, we have great distribution partners, and most importantly we have an awesome community. Thank you for supporting us! We can’t wait to share everything that’s next with you all.

We are celebrating Torchlight’s one year PC anniversary with a 50% sale, for 48 hours on our site. Beginning October 27th at 8am PST, you can get Torchlight for PC at Torchlightgame.com for $10. Sale ends October 29th at 8am PST. This ensures everyone in their respective time-zones gets a chance to take advantage of the party! Tell your friends! And as always, thank you for playing.

What to do with some of this fancy swag we have left over from PAX? Oh yes, it’s contest time.

Here’s the format – make a 5-10 panel comic using any action figures you want. There should be a narrative structure, but whether it’s funny, sad, or horror, is entirely up to you. Get creative and have fun! Instead of drawing the actual panel, you snap a photo. Arrange the photos with captions in an album that’s public – meaning you can send us the link and we can see it. This can be on Flickr, Facebook, your blog, or anywhere else you want to host it. Then, post the link to our Twitter feed (@RunicGames) or on the Torchlight II Facebook Wall. Use the magic phrase, “T-shirt Contest.”

Need more information? Here is the touching love story that inspired our contest: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=85058&id=1143378532

The top two winners will receive our exclusive-to-PAX and very limited run of Torchlight II T-shirts, as modeled here by Adam and Kyle. Contest closes when we find our winners! Looking forward to seeing what you create!
