Avatarate!

I know, it sounds like a Harry Potter spell, but this is the new word I have invented for the Friday Treat: Avatarate. It’s the action verb form of “to make your own Runic Games forum avatar.”

Some of you have crafted your own mods for your forum avatar, some are just using a default pic. We wanted to help out – by making a tasty selection of fifteen different avatars for you to choose from. That’s like two possible combinations a day! Confuse your enemies, wow your friends! Seriously though, check them out on our Media page, and avatarate away.

In addition, we have added these avatars to our official forums, so you can just go to your Profile and browse the avatar gallery!

Happy Friday!

This post was meant to go live on Friday, but due to some technical issues, you get it on Saturday! Hope you enjoy your weekend and this week’s treat!

Happy Friday, the last Friday of September! That’s right folks – one week from today, we’ll be officially into LAUNCH MONTH. It’s practically here! The excitement is palpable! Of course, you already got the Friday treat on Wednesday in the form of the bad-ass Alchemist trailer, so, we wouldn’t have anything else up my sleeve, would we?

Alright, alright you got us! We are doubling up on our week’s worth of love for you, and very happy to launch Episode 3 of the Preditor tutorial by Patrick Blank. A big Thank You to Patrick for setting that up! That concludes our 3-part tutorial on how to work the Preditor – you’re on your way to making new and incredible mods that we can’t wait to see. Have a look now, and then chat about it in the forums. Have an excellent weekend everyone! See you in October.

Here is Part 3, the last video in this preview series for scripting in level design. In this video, I keep it short and sweet, and show you one of my favorite features for monsters and how to set it up. Monster jump downs! This is used in many different ways and allows the ability for monsters to jump down from different heights in the levels and swarm the player. Some of the basics covered in previous videos are demonstrated again, such as monster spawners, and setting up a trigger, but now with the addition of JumpDownAreas.

I hope everybody has enjoyed this short series, and are excited about some of the features so that you can start thinking about what crazy scenarios you want to create in your levels. I know people are going to love how easy to use, and powerful our editor tools are, and these videos were meant to show you just that.

We will be providing more basic documentation with the tools when we release them, but in the mean time, keep asking away in our “Torchlight Mod Discussion” section of the forum, and we will do our best to answer all questions.
